An architectural enthusiast, Rao Raja Kalyan Singh Bahadur (1886-1967) was born at Deeppura Garh. The last Maharajah of Sikar, adorned his fort, with its stunning and rare murals, making Deeppura Garh truly a work of art. However, they have now been painstakingly restored.
These intricate works of art, tell the stories, of not only just the Maharajahs and their rule, but give us insights into the artisans and crafts people who worked meticulously to create these visions of beauty.
After years of neglect, Deeppura Garh was purchased by Maria Grazia Baldan. A renowned jewellery designer, with two well-known jewellery boutiques in Italy in Milano and in Costa Smeralda, Maria fully embraced the multifaceted heritage of Rajasthan and understood the cultural significance of this unforgettable fort.

(Photo by – G.Vigo)“On my first visit to the abandoned Fort I found a sitting camel resting under a tree hence the logo’s birth, a sitting camel and the inscription ‘HAVE A REST BEFORE MOVING ON’ Deeppura Raja ji, a farmers village, is located halfway between Jaipur and Bikaner. Travellers and tourists, after spending days visiting these, and other sites flooded with colours, road traffic sounds, music, spices and more, stop at Deeppura Garh is like to regenerate their body, mind and senses. For this reason, the colours used for the interiors are neutral and pale. The renovations were an adventure in itself and were made possible by the architects, technicians, talented craftspeople, gardeners and countless workers who, for more than 5 years, have had the patience to follow every detail. It has been a great experience! I’m satisfied with the results and happy to have revived what was once a ruin, with its long history behind it. I hope that others will follow my example to save forgotten heritage.
